Emerging Trends in Environmental Chemistry and Waste Valorization

Environmental pollution and the accumulation of waste have become critical global challenges, necessitating innovative, sustainable, and chemistry-driven solutions. Environmental chemistry plays a pivotal role in understanding the fate, transport, and transformation of pollutants, while waste valorization offers promising pathways to convert waste materials into value-added products, energy, and resources, supporting the principles of circular economy and sustainability.

This Special Issue of Chemical Science Review and Letters aims to highlight emerging trends and recent advances in environmental chemistry and waste valorization, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary approaches that integrate chemistry, materials science, environmental engineering, and biotechnology.

We invite original research articles, review papers, and short communications addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:

  • Chemical characterization and transformation of environmental pollutants

  • Advanced oxidation processes and green remediation technologies

  • Environmental monitoring, analytical methods, and chemical risk assessment

  • Waste-to-wealth approaches and circular economy strategies

  • Valorization of agricultural, industrial, and municipal wastes

  • Conversion of waste into fuels, chemicals, and functional materials

  • Bio-based and nanomaterials for environmental applications

  • Sustainable catalysts and processes for waste treatment and reuse

  • Life cycle assessment and environmental impact evaluation

This Special Issue seeks to provide a platform for researchers, academicians, and industry professionals to share innovative research and practical solutions aimed at environmental protection, resource recovery, and sustainable development. Contributions offering novel chemical insights, scalable technologies, and real-world applications are especially encouraged.

Researchers and professionals are invited to submit their manuscripts and contribute to this timely and impactful Special Issue.
