Soil Properties and Fertility Status of Ivy Gourd (Coccinia grandis) Cultivated Soils in the North Konkan Region of Maharashtra

Abstract
The objective of investigation with regards to soil properties of ivy gourd grown soils that to study the fertility status of Ivy gourd cultivating soils. The investigation entitled “Soil Properties and Phytochemical Analysis of Ivy Gourd (Coccinia grandis) Grown in North Konkan Region of Maharashtra” was carried out at the College of Agriculture, Dapoli. Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli. Dist. Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) during the year 2021-22 and 2022-2023. The evaluation of the soil nutrient status in Ivy gourd gardens across various locations, focusing on proximity to the Alibag tahsil and different check locations. It was observed that soil pH was consistently low across all locations. Whereas, electrical conductivity indicated medium levels at away to the seashore and check locations, but low levels near the seashore. Organic carbon content was high in all sampled areas. However, soil available nitrogen and phosphorus levels were found to be low in both Alibag tahsil and other studied locations. The soil available potassium was rated as medium in all gardens. These findings highlighted the variation in soil nutrient profiles influenced by environmental factors such as proximity to the sea.
